Frontal view of Tang court officer. Very fine, tall, erect figure standing on a rockwork base. Elegantly dressed on a sancai glazed tunic worn over a long straw glazed skirt. Head turned slightly to the side with bulging eyes and opened mouth. High hat in the shaped of a miter molded with seven mountains peaks flanked by wings. Right hand clasped as holding a scroll and left hand concealed under garment. Tang Dynasty (AD618-907). H. 36 in (91.4 cm). Oxford T.L. tested. |
